Photography is the story I fail to put into words, In photography, there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality, that's why it should be treated as a magical moment because when you take an image you freeze time, you freeze the moment, Now that reveals how rich reality truly is. This is a short post so please stick with me as I am writing this Live and not from some pre-written document and I hope I am able to pass the message across to you after you read this. This is not a post to make you feel like you are not good enough or that you need to purchase some magical preset, App to create magical photos rather this post is to tell you how I feel about photography and what it represents to me and maybe you will be able to relate it to yourself.
To me photography means a lot of things, It's my go-to for healing and distraction, when my mind feels all muddled up and stressed I would rather whip up a nice aesthetically pleasing photo either from my imagination or draw inspiration from something I have seen on TV or online and try to create it to my own liking. Photography to me is "Healing" It challenges me to think outside the box always.
While writing this post I am immediately reminded of these beautiful words by "Aaron Siskind"- Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever. It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. These words feel like I wrote them myself, people get so easily carried away lately by the little things in the world, many forget that this world is failing or fading away and we must do all we can to be happy with the time we have left in this realm. In my short time here I have met many souls, some experiences were pleasant while some were very deep/hurtful and because I had no knowledge about how to calm my inner self, seek inner peace and direct my attention to things that mattered but instead, I felt like I was in a maze then, that's why the moment I saw a path and followed it, I felt like I could breathe, One of the things that bring me happiness is "Photography" it has and always will be one of my favorite things to do. Whether it's taken photos of my crystals, Oils, herbs, the ocean, nature, interiors, or Food, Photography brings me a sense of calm. The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people or places change, the photo stays the same so it can remind me of the moment I took the photo, When we look at a picture we have taken, it should bring either a smile to our lips or tears of joy to our eyes, though some are tears of sorrow especially if that photo contains a face of someone we love dearly and that beautiful soul is not in this world with us anymore, now as precious as this kind of photo is, it can also be painful to look at, as it's a reminder of those moments spent with that person. I hardly delete photographs even if it contains photos of people I am no longer in contact or friends with, I either safely back it up if looking at it brings bad memories and negative energy, but I don't delete them unless, by error, the reason I don't do this is that, when that photo was taken, the person and I were probably friends and close, I did not have any sort of resentment towards them, and because of the sort of person I am, I don't hold grudges, I may not forget the experience someone put me through but I have learned to forgive and let go because forgiveness is about me and not them, I believe that in life if you and someone is meant to meet no force in the universe can stop that from happening and you will cross path with that person and should life allow you to patch things up, you will remember those forgotten treasures called "Photographs" of moments from the past but it will now turn into treasure and something you and the person can talk about.
To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place, People may look at photos online and feel low because they are unable to create a similar photo because they don't have the deco, accessories that are as pretty as what that person has, but it's not about what they have it's how the photo is taken, it's the vision behind the camera, it's about the mind and intention. When I want to take photos for my Instagram or blog, I don't rush it, I take my time and if the idea is not as good as I want it to look I don't post the photo until I feel I have captured the magical moment I visualized. That's why I say the secret to creating Aesthetically Pleasing Photos Is YOU because without you that photo you seek does not exist, don't aspire to be anyone else or to make your photo look like someone else's, aspire to create your own kind of photography. Lately, people quickly forget who they are and their passion because they are constantly comparing themselves or their Instagram feed, followers, numbers of likes and comments to someone else's and they forget that everyone is different, we all have different kinds of audiences, Social media is crowded and you need to focus more on your engagement not likes, make sure you are doing the things you feel passionate about.
The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words that is why when taking photos I don't just focus on the object I make sure I add elements that blend well with the main object/focus giving my audience more to look at. Remember this -The picture you took with your camera is the imagination you want to create with reality so feel free to let your imagination run wild because everything you imagine is real.
